Book Reviews

- Amanda H

I loved this book. This family’s story is so moving and beautifully captured. It acknowledges what this family endured in an honest and incredibly raw account. I keep extra copies in my office to share with anyone who loves someone who suffers from addiction. Love really is the only way through the opioid crisis.

- CWB

Fabulous book! So well written with so much love and passion! The writing was so descriptive that I thought I was there! It was a hard book to put down!

Having been through this with several people in my life who have struggled with addiction, this book was rich with insights and content I could relate to. Great find!

A sister’s loving, real and heartbreaking account of addiction. She along with other members of the village of her sister provide an insider’s perspective and advice for dealing with the emotional rollercoaster of addiction. It is definitively a wonderful guide to gain awareness, support and tools to aide in your battle to overcome.

- Sharon Zagyva

The author writes from a place of honesty....fear, anger, helplessness, resentment, hope....she lays it all on the line. Her real experiences within the family help to understand all of the nuances of addiction. Helpful tips for self care as well as practical ways to help without enabling are offered as well. The addition of family letters as well as writings from her sister and father tie this book together with multiple perspectives. This is a must read!

Please consider leaving Sister Siren a 5 Star review. What was of most impact or helpful.

Author of Nobody's Victim

Michaela Canterbury is a sister, daughter, wife, mom and a highly accomplished plaintiff’s lawyer. This book is about what happens when a Type-A person is confronted with a loved one’s battle against addiction and learns that that the usual methods of problem-solving -- research, analysis, lists, experts, history – won’t cut it. Michaela soul searches to support her sister. This book is a must-read for people who need support in dealing with the carpet-yanking reality of when a beloved friend or relative is at war with an enemy that nobody else can truly control.
